Reason Magazine - Typing Errors
This article goes on at length about the myth of of the QWERTY typewriter being slow and the Dvorak one being so much more efficient. I’ve told the story before but now I see that I am partly wrong.
The story is that the original mechanical typewriters had to have their keys arranged to make people’s typing slower so the mechanical arms that hit the paper wouldn’t jam. And the myth is that we have been stuck with a slow QWERTY keyboard key arrangement in the computer age when there are no mechanical limitations to typing speed. So the Dvorak keyboard has the keys arranged to speed up typing by putting the most commonly used letters in the home key positions under our strongest fingers.
You can also see this article for more on the myth.

The Sufi poetry teaches the feminine qualities of joy, love, tenderness and self sacrifice on a path of true knowledge derived from the spiritual heart. The spiritual rebirth of the individual is not unlike the trial and tribulation of physical childbirth, according to the Sufis. They take the principle of divine love and use it to facilitate the process of alchemical transformation from mundane human to spiritual being.
The fanaticism that we see in modern Islam is a new development in a religion that, in its early history, was famous for its tolerance and respect for other religions. In Islam’s classical period in medieval Spain and Egypt perhaps only Buddhism rivalled Islam’s tolerance. The fundamentalism that characterises the behaviour of many of today’s Muslims is in fact anti-Koranic.

Hmm, though what about getting helmets for the toddlers as advised by Book of Joe.

It is by Anita Renfroe who is according to Wikipedia, an American Christian comedian from Atlanta, Georgia, the wife of a Baptist pastor and the mother of three children.
I had the macro lens on and was poking around the flowers in front. This wasp like insect came and went fast so I wasn’t able to get it. Plus shooting in ambient shade didn’t give the shutter speed to depth of field to capture it. Maybe next time.
Al Saeed, a Saudi blogger made a short video called schism featuring alleged Christian extremists preaching violence and a Bible passage calling for war in response to the Dutch anti-Quran film by Geert Wilders. At the end of the video he says, “It is easy to take parts of any holy book that are out of context and make it sound like the most inhumane book ever written. This is what Geert Wilders did to gather more supporters to his hateful ideology. To create schism.”
Way to go Al Saeed. People have been twisting the truth forever to incite more negativity.

I’ve see one once when a lady collapse on the other side of the plane. With an aging population, and large planes no doubt it will be more common.
Saudi gender roles and everyday life are being redefined as you read this. I feel like talking about it, in English, so it can be read in the furthest reaches of the planet. There is more to me than what exists within the domestic sphere and that’s what I’m trying to maintain through this dialogue with the world. This is about MY life and MY experiences within this small town
