Damn. This site was hacked probably because I had weak passwords on some ftp accounts that I don’t use. So some malicious files were put on the site. Lesson learned. Hopefully it comes up soon. You can currently get at it via MS Explorer but Firefox gives:

I’m going through the steps to get it off the nasty list. Let’s see how long that takes.

Adobe Flash

I will be glad when Flash is gone. And frankly Adobe deserves it to go away as they do things like this. Look at what you get when you download flash. Look closely at the McAfee Scan checkbox. Make darn sure you don’t have it checked or McAfee will install and will be a pain as it is very hard to uninstall. McAfee is a legitimate anti-virus company but this is not reputable in my mind. I could accept it if the default was to not install it.

The anti-virus companies are getting more and more desperate since Microsoft is now offering a free anti virus solution which I use everywhere.

Ecofont has holes in it to save ink. And it is a free font.

Cord Chaos

This is one way to organize the cords.

But, it isn’t so easy here with so many devices and all different kinds of plugs, British, European and American and most of the stuff at 240 volt but some only running on 120.

Thre is an ADSL Router with a second router and hub on top. And a spare ADSL router which I’m working on putting online to see if it is more reliable than the once I’m using now. But I do believe the un-reliability is from my ISP not my hardware. And below there are two Western Digital 1 TB NAS drives, an old NAS drive and an old USB drive. My USB hub is also overloaded! And some devices won’t work through a hub. Argh.

And here are some very nice photos of Bolivia from National Geographic. It is nice to see such nice photos. I’ve bought a couple of print issues of National Geographic magazine lately and been underwhelmed by the photos as you expect much more from National Geographic.

And there is also JPG Magazine with quite a variety of photos.

“+”: Google ignores common words and characters such as where, the, how, I , etc. If a common word is essential to getting the results you want, you can include it by putting a “+” sign in front of it. (Be sure to include a space before the “+” sign.) Eg. Thomas +the Tank Engine will find web pages on the popular children’s character
“-”: If you do not want your search results to include a particular word you can exclude it by putting a “-” sign in front of it. (Again, remember to include a space before the “-” sign.) Eg. virus –computer will find pages containing the word virus but NOT the word computer
“~”: If you also want to search for the synonyms of your keyword, place the tilde sign (“~”) immediately in front of it. Eg. ~car insurance will also search for automobile insurance
“OR”: To find pages that include either of two keywords, add an uppercase OR between the words. Eg. College OR University will search for information about Colleges or Universities
Exact Phrase: Sometimes you’ll only want results that include an exact phrase. In this case, simply put quotation marks around your phrase. This is particularly useful when searching for names or famous sayings. Eg. “To be or not to be”
“*”: By adding an asterisk “*” in part of your search, Google ‘fills in the blank’ for you.
Eg. The telephone was invented by *
“..”: Searches for results containing numbers in a given range. Just add two numbers, separated by two full stops, with no spaces, into the search box along with your keywords. Eg. Tennessee Williams plays 1945..1955
