I grew up in conservative Calgary, Alberta and was raised by caring loving parents. I grew up in a small family with one brother. I had all the things I wanted. Any religion or spirituality was limited to going to church at Christmas. What I experienced created no interest in me.
While pushing myself to extremes, I was seeking something and wasn't finding it. It seemed at times that perfect powder day or that 100 mile bicycle ride lost its appeal. - stopped giving its satisfaction. I did not know why and was frustrated. A friend told me about local programs of Sahaja Yoga. To me it was strange. I saw the materials, and some photographs of an Indian lady. It didn't fully appeal to me. Then, in the summer of 1990, while visiting Vancouver I spotted a small advertisement on a crowded billboard with a photograph of the lady, Shri Mataji Nirmala. Looking closer, it said that she was coming to Vancouver one month later. I decided to return for the program. This page was last updated on 12/09/01. |
