We returned to Vancouver for the program. It was, for me, a bit strange, going to such a thing. There were about 400 people in the auditorium. There was some music performed by the local followers of Shri Mataji. It was rhythmic and very enjoyable but not in English.
Then, Shri Mataji started the program. She said, "the truth is the truth, you cannot change it…" Then She spoke about many common sense things which have been lost in our society particularly in the West. She spoke further about a dormant energy within all of us
called Kundalini which could be awakened spontaneously, through our desire. She
also described the three subtle energy channels right, left and centre as well
as the chakras. She spoke of us getting our Self Realization and that we could feel this as a cool breeze in our hands and from the fontanel area on the top of our heads. This was really quite something for me to grasp. Usually my mental extrapolations would be about bicycle gearing or the latest telemark ski. Then Shri Mataji led everyone through a simple meditation process to experience the Self Realization.. She asked that the eyes be closed for this. It a bit a bit weird, and clearly non-empirical for me. I opened my eyes and looked around and did not feel any "vibrations" or "cool breeze". After, Shri Mataji asked those who experienced it to raise their hands in the air. The majority did. So, in spite of not feeling the "vibrations", something from this program motivated me to try more Sahaja Yoga. Upon, returning to Calgary, started some of the basic practices.
