  • Ski Day 9 Kananaskis and No Evidence of Global Warming

    Sunrise

I love the clouds and the colours of the sky while driving up.

It was the coldest day yet, and I think colder than all the days last year. I started at Pocaterra in Kananaskis with -18 °C and when I returned in the afternoon it was -10 °C.

    Blueberry Hill

The view above is up the trail to Blueberry Hill. I stopped here for a brief snack and water and the usual visitors were there making sure no crumbs were left on the snow!

  • Ski Day 8 Canmore Nordic Centre

Snowing in Calgary but nice in Canmore with a few sunny breaks.

  • Ski Day 6 Kananaskis

Still warm, but lots of new snow. Not all was trackset, but enjoyable to be outside! I had an early start as I had to get home for Janaki’s voice lesson.

  • A Not Ski Day

Ironically it’s snowing too much. Looking forward to Friday then to ski. So I spontaneously decided to donate.

  • Ski Day 5 Canmore Nordic Centre – sort of

I arrived early and it was warmer than expected: plus 5 and icy. So I put klister on for grip. Well, klister worked great except there was a fair bit of debris, pine needles and some cones in the track. At one point I had to stop and scrap off a thick layer of needles on the ski bottom. So then there was no grip. I double poled and skated back. Actually the skating was fun, but hard to do on non-skating boots and with shorter poles.

So it was a short day of skiing but the espresso on the way home was good!

So the potential option is get waxless skis or skating equipment of just hope it stays cold.
