Fascinating!
There were thousands of these buildings during the Safavid dynasty, about the 16th century CE. They were built to collect the droppings as fertilizer for melon and cucumber fields… However, in modern times chemically produced fertilizers have drastically reduced the viability of the bird guano industry and as a result not many of these structures have survived to the present day. The droppings were also used in the process of tanning leather.

Well it does crash! I thought with each tab being in its own process it couldn’t happen.
I was initially a skeptic on this but after trying it, it’s great. Go to the Google Chrome page here. I have not found a sight it doesn’t work on including the banks. I only see some minor glitches on Facebook when trying to filter for different friends.

Many of the local substations are decorated like this one. This is the first time I’ve seen a generator attached though.
I took this photo of the birds in a pet store with the camera phone. A bit of a challenge as the birds move and the phone is very slow to focus, but as it is like most point and shoots with a small sensor you can easily get close for photos.
This is also my first post in the category “daily photo”. Let’s see if I can do this nearly daily. My next challenge is to get some photos to capture the spirit of Ramadan.
