No place is perfect
Well nowhere is perfect as I posted previously about the driving. But there is always the weather to talks about also, and that can make you feel better about things. Here’s a weather forecast for Calgary from the best Calgary weather site wx.ca

And here is the Kuwait weather from wunderground.com. I haven’t found a better forecast site yet for here.

We need to buy some patio furniture now. The only thing is it will be in the way of where Surya plays basketball. Though I’d like to put something on the roof but then we’ll need a shade cover and also it can get quite windy up there, though that also will be nice in the hot weather as long as it doesn’t blow down whatever we may use for shade.

Driving stress
Today after work I decided to go shopping for the DVI cable for the new computer monitor. The district Hawali has the computer shops that have these more specialized cables.
So I started driving towards the area and after a few km realized that the shops probably wouldn’t be open when I arrived! But I decided to go anyhow to know the area. Sure enough they weren’t open.
One thing I did see lots of stupid driving. Wednesday afternoon end of the workweek.
First some person doing a typical move criss crossing the middle lane at 140 or so locked up the wheels, blue smoke and all, to avoid hitting someone. Then there was a guy on a partial chopper motorcycle splitting lanes about 130.
So I reached the shops and on the way back, well first there was a small traffic jam and a local in his big Marquis just went from his lane that ended into mine. I thought he would actually even look before doing this but no, just drove into the other lane without even looking. That was anticipation one of the day.
Then turning left to get from the Sixth Ring Road to the 30 Expressway I was in the inside lane behind a bus doing a U-Turn. U-Turns are common, no problem. But the bozo to my right nearly clipped me turning left from the second lane, which is allowed but in your own lane please. So it was a relief to get home. Everyone was driving way fast and stupid crossing lanes etc.
Good thing I had a quick espresso at Starbucks before this part of the drive to keep my reflexes on the razor’s edge. Though lots of the driving here in eyes in the back of the head, intuition and anticipation.

Pakistanis rampage over cartoons

I agree with Musharraf what he says quoted below. The problem now is that what people think is freedom is just doing what you formerly were not allowed to do. Common sense is gone.
This world issue on the good side, if there is any, is that a very necessary dialogue has been put to the forefront in Europe and the rest of the world about how religion and freedom can coexist with the everpresent politics overshadowing it all.
In Islamabad, President Pervez Musharraf said newspapers that printed the cartoons were “oblivious” to the consequences for peace and harmony in the world.
“I don’t see how any civilised person can take the issue of freedom of press to hurt the feelings of such a large population of the world,” he told visiting journalists.
“Whether an extremist or a moderate or an ultra-moderate, we will condemn it.”

First Day of School in Kuwait
And what a memorable day to start. Drizzling rain. I guess suitable for starting a British school. Click here for larger image.

Hopefully more to come on their school experience in a couple of days.
